What We Look For
We partner with owners of New Zealand independent veterinary businesses to help them formulate and execute succession plans, create growth and profitability strategies, and improve governance fundamentals. We look for opportunities where the practice has a track record of positive cash earnings, management performance, clear business objectives (with or without a plan) and the potential for further growth.
There are not many options for independent small to mid-sized businesses to raise capital, gain governance and business experience and retain legacy control of the company. We typically invest in businesses with enterprise values of between $1 million and $10 million. We are true partners to ownership teams, take a minority position and are happy to exit at a time that suits.
Onboarding with CoVenture involves a robust due diligence process to ascertain the business goals, assess their viability and the required compatibility of the existing ownership team with CoVenture.
We have experience in drafting fit-for-purpose governing documents like shareholding agreements and board charters. An industry-standard business valuation approach is fundamental to CoVentures investment and exit strategy.
